What to Wear

Dress for
the lens.

A short guide for clients about to be on camera. Read once, pack a few options, show up comfortable.

The big rules.

If you remember nothing else, remember these.

Yes
  • 1.

    Be comfortable.

You'll be sitting for hours. Don't pick anything tight or scratchy.

  • 2.

    One level up.

Business-casual that says: I'd grab a coffee or a beer with you.

  • 3.

    Bring options.

Three to five outfits. Different colors and layers, we'll pick on set.

No
  • 1.

    No tight patterns.

Gingham, fine stripes, herringbone. The camera reads them as moiré.

  • 2.

    No pure white.

Catches too much light and matches studio walls. Cream instead.

  • 3.

    No pure black.

Charcoal or navy tend to be better, but sometimes we cheat with this one.

Start with your brand colors.

Whatever they are, those win. Otherwise, here's a safe playbook.

Yes
Cream
Charcoal
Navy
Burgundy
Forest
Mustard
No
Pure White
Pure Black
Neons
Ska check
Pin-stripe
Herringbone

Pack the night before.

Don't overthink it.

  • 3 to 5 outfit options
  • Extra base layer (no white tee under colored shirts)
  • Jackets or blazers you love
  • Anti-glare glasses or contacts
  • Steamed or pressed clothes
  • Comfy bottoms (in case they're not seen)

Still not sure?

We'd rather answer a “dumb” question than have you stressed on set.
